A few months ago I was given this photograph of my mom and me before my sister was born. I’m told this picture was taken April/May of 1966, and if you look close just below my mom’s big purse you can see how flared out from her knees her dress is. Women in the 1960’s, even in the 1970’s, very rarely exposed their pregnant bellies to the world. Which is a shame, but there you have it? It’s kind of neat to think there is another human being in this picture–you just can’t see her yet. I have a lot of baby pictures of myself and have been given even more these past few years. I am certain this picture would mean more to my mother and sister than I, given its significance.
